Shadow Over Edmund Street shortlisted for Ned Kelly Award
We're so excited to announce that Shadow Over Edmund Street by author Suzanne Frankham which we published last year, has been shortlisted for Best Debut Crime Fiction in the Ned Kelly Crime Writers Awards run by the ACWA (Australian Crime Writers Association) - Australia’s premier awards for crime writing.
This is a major achievement as there are only four books shortlisted for Best Debut Crime Fiction:
Sweet Jimmy - Bryan Brown
Shadow Over Edmund Street - Suzanne Frankham
Cutters End - Margaret Hickey
Banjawarn - Josh Kemp
In their statement, ACWA said ‘The Best Debut Crime Fiction entries were very strong with an incredible range of new Australian writers choosing the crime genre for their first books - and signalling very positive futures ahead.’ The judging panels and committee members have spent the past three months reading, discussing and debating the 135 entries in this year’s competition.
Shadow Over Edmund Street is Suzanne Frankham’s first novel, but she’s no stranger to winning writing awards. Her short stories have won awards in UK and Australia - most notably including:
S.D. Harvey Short Story Crime Award 2019 (Aus)
Scarlett Stiletto Liz Navratil Prize 2017 (Aus)
Writers’ Forum UK Short Story Competition 2015 (UK)
Bayside Writers Competition Resident Winner 2015(Aus)
Scarlet Stiletto Catherine Leppert Award 2014 (Aus)
We've everything crossed for Suzanne - the winners are due to be announced in four weeks.
Shadow Over Edmund Street is available internationally online, in bookstores, libraries, in large print and audio. And
